Top Resources

  1. Indexes core journal articles, conference proceedings, and other resources in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities, can be used for citation analysis of research. A citation index contains the references cited by the authors of the publications covered by the index. You can use these references to do a cited reference search. This type of search enables you to find works that cite a previously published work.
  2. An extensive collection of bibliographies of books, articles, monographs, reports and theses in physical and human geography, geology, mineralogy, ecology and development studies. The scope is international, dating back to 1980. The interdisciplinary coverage makes it suitable for researching environmental issues.
  3. Comprehensive coverage (over 1,900 journals) in environmental and many related disciplines. Also available is fulltext access to over 200 monographs.

  1. Multidisciplinary index to academic & popular journals.
  2. Citations with abstracts to the worldwide literature (grey literature and published research from 1978) on the Arctic and other cold regions. Produced by the Arctic Institute of North America. Covers a wide range of topics ranging from science to social science and history.
  3. International documentation of cartographic literature. Contains bibliographic records dating back to 1989. Bibliographic information about older publications can be searched in the printed volumes of the Bibliographia Cartographica (BC).
  4. A collection of GIS data products for Canada. Access to the following GIS data products: CanMap streetfiles -- CanMap route logistics -- Canadian atlas map bundle -- Postal geography -- GeoPinpoint geocoding software -- Shorelined boundaries and census data for Canada.
  5. Reports of various ecological projects within British Columbia. Associated data and map files are included whenever possible. Covers diverse subjects such as water quality and water quantity, reservoirs, floodplain mapping, groundwater, fish and fish habitat, wildlife and wildlife habitat, terrestrial information, soils, and vegetation.
  6. Geographically related literature in German, French and English, with more than 60000 entries. Produced by the Department of Geography of Erlangen-Nuremberg University.
  7. Access to International Historical Statistics covering 1750-2010.
  8. For use with GIS Software. This dataset includes country-level demographic data, 1st level admin demographic data, pixel (1kmē) level data, and a layer with area calculations for population density.
  9. Lists key books, articles, and other sources on a wide variety of subjects via annotated and curated bibliographies. An excellent starting point for locating important literature and scholarly sources on a topic. Focuses on the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
  10. A web-based mapping application that enables users to create thematic maps and reports using Canadian demographic, Census, business, and consumer data. Note: There are limits on the amount of data that can be exported.
  11. Citations, abstracts, and citation searching (cited reference searching) across major journals in multiple disciplines in the social sciences.
  12. Collection of data relevant for the analysis of world trade, investment and development, compiled by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. Coverage includes foreign direct investment; export and import structure by product and by regions of origin and destination; volumes and terms of trade indices; and commodity prices and relevant indices;
