Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) is the inherent right Indigenous communities have to decide “yes” or “no” to mining, forestry, oil, gas, water, or other proposed external activities that would affect their lands, territories, and/or natural resources and is recognized in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
Research, policy and program materials relating to Indigenous involvement with the criminal justice system in the U.S., Canada and Greenland. Many materials are related to community-based initiatives and programs designed to address Indigenous conflict with the law, and there are also listings for documents in related areas, including health and welfare, drug and alcohol use, jurisdictional issues and education.
